HE
He learns to get close to life
so that when he speaks,
he speaks of reality,
and when he listens,
he hears only the truth.
The world is his footstool,
his adventure, his lover,
his vulnerability and his pride.
He becomes
an intricate part
of it's byways,
and fills it with his spirit:
no rural sort is he.
He is ever seeking battle,
wanting to know
how sharp his teeth are
and what will fell him.
He does not crowd
himself in
with his past or his present;
but he gives himself
room for growth.
He is ever at the helm,
so that from it's enviornment
he can absorb it's wisdom.
He cannot rest in peace
unless his strength
that day
was used for noble work.
He covers up his desires
to hide them from his view
when he has work to do.
